1966 Corvette

427/425 HP- 4-Speed

"For the 1966 Corvette, the big-block V-8 came in two forms: 390 bhp on 10.25:1 compression, and 425 bhp via 11:1 compression, larger intake valves, a bigger Holley four-barrel carburetor on an aluminum manifold, mechanical lifters, and four- instead of two-hole main bearing caps. Though it had no more horsepower than the previous high-compression 396, the 427 packed a lot more torque -- 460 pound/feet vs. 415."

According to the current owner, this Corvette is combination of original with some cosmetic and mechanical improvements over the years. Please let all the pictures load, (there are over 170) to see the beautiful condition of this classic piece of Chevrolet history.  Acquired by the current owner from a Corvette dealer about 5 years ago, we don't know all the details of what has been done, what follows is what we do know. The odometer shows 43,000 miles and is believed to be correct and based on the overall condition we would agree, but the car is being sold as exempt because of the age. The body appears to be original with what looks to be a  very high quality professional repaint.  The  427/425 HP engine was rebuilt to factory specifications in 2007 and does have the vin number stamped on the engine pad. The original rear end was replaced years ago with one from the 70's, but the 4-speed transmission looks to be original with the ID number stamped on the underside. The under carriage is in very nice original condition with some maintenance items installed as needed. The interior is incredible, it looks all original with some VERY MINOR wear and slightly faded carpeting.  Is this a #1 quality trailer queen?  No it is not and the owner is not going to take it to that level.  This will not be an inexpensive car, but will not be priced like some of the recent sales of 427/425HP Corvettes.  If you have any more detailed questions, or would like to discuss a purchase price please give us a call. 815-953-6843.

All features are fully operational, the car rides and handles terrific and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. We strongly recommend a personal inspection on this vehicle as we are not experts on Corvettes and the information above was provided by the owner. Included in the sale will be extensive photo documentation of the engine rebuild showing the engine numbers, the rebuild specifications and receipts.

Please remember that this car is 45 years old and not perfect.  The interior does show some VERY MINOR wear.
