The Impala was restyled on the existing GM B platform for 1961. The new body styling was more trim and boxy than the 1958-60 models. Sport Coupe models featured a "bubbleback" roofline style for '61, and a unique model, the 2-door pillared sedan, was available for 1961 only. It was rarely ordered and a scarce collectible today. In 1961, the Impala SS (Super Sport) was introduced to the market. The SS badge was to become Chevrolet's signature of performance on many models, though it has often been an appearance package only. The Impala's SS package in 1961 was truly a performance package, beginning with the high-performance 348-cubic-inch V8 engines available with 305 brake horsepower, 340 brake horsepower, and 350 brake horsepower.

This is one of the rare cars that actually looks better in person than the pictures! This is an original Texas car that was professionally restored top to bottom and completed in 2006. The 348 tri- power engine and 4- speed transmission that have been completely rebuilt to stock specifications. The car had a show quality repaint in the original Roman Red with all new or redone exterior trim and chrome. The interior has been redone in the correct cloth/vinyl combination and the undercarriage is detailed as new! The 348 engine fires to life instantly and it rides, handles and looks terrific, probably better than when new! All lights, signals, heater, gas gauge, oil gauge, temperature gauge, battery gauge, radio, wipers and windows are fully operational. It has has been serviced, detailed and is ready for a new owner.
