Ford actually outsold Chevrolet in 1957, but the 1957 Chevy has been called 'the most popular used car in history.' That's staying power. With its 'baby Cadillac' style and powerful V8 engine options, the 1957 really was, to quote a Chevy ad of the day, 'sweet, smooth and sassy.' They came in a two-tone paint scheme and two-tone interior. As the years progressed the Bel Air was available with a variety of engine sizes, including the V8 which was normally reserved for the Corvette. The Chevrolet Bel Air was a very dramatic and bold vehicle with many recognizable features such as the rocket-inspired twin spear ornaments inset on the hood, and the chrome outlined rear tail fins."
According to the current owner, this Chevy was treated to a body off restoration in 2005 and has been driven only 2,200 miles since completion! The owner purchased the car the way you see it and his knowledge of what was done is limited. Restored to be a show car, with the following custom and mechanical upgrades. The engine is a late model Corvette engine with a custom suspension. It has power disc brakes, power steering, automatic transmission with a B&M Quicksilver shifter, Flowmaster mufflers with dual exhaust, custom headers and Billet Specialty wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires (P225/60R-15 Front and P295/50R-15 Rear). The interior is beautifully done in custom leather, featuring power leather seats, air conditioning, Classic Instruments gauges, Budnik tilt steering wheel and a Clarion sound system with C/D. The paint is show quality PPG base coat/clear coat. The exterior chrome and trim are all show quality! The engine compartment is detailed for show and the under carriage is detailed like new. The car rides, looks and sounds awesome and all features are fully operational. All in all this is one of the finest cars we have had, bid now to own this piece of American automobile history! Please remember that this car is 53 years old and not perfect. The driver seat shows some very minor wear and the car does not have windshield wipers.
