1966 Thunderbird
"Most know that 1966 was a year of lasts: the last convertible, the last uni body, and to some, the last of the classic Thunderbirds. 1966 was also a year of firsts: and was probably the best year of the decade to buy a new Thunderbird. Not only was all of the sheet metal from the windshield forward new, a new roof line was offered in the two Town models, which was also include the Safety-Convenience Control Panel, normally an option, as standard. Horsepower from the dependable 390 V-8 would be increased to 315. An emergency flasher system became standard equipment, as did rear seat belts. The Thunderbird would offer more standard equipment than ever before for 1966, and the base prices of all models actually dropped! "
This is a very nice example of the 4th generation Thunderbird. Please let all the pictures load (there are over 80) to see the excellent condition of this classic Ford. The odometer shows 62,000 miles and according to the previous owner is correct, we would agree but the car is being sold exempt because of the age. With the exception of a high quality repaint in the original Wimbledon White, a complete engine rebuild and an aftermarket stereo this car is all original. The paint, exterior trim and interior are excellent. The undercarriage is extremely solid and clean and it still carries the original rustproofing. Very nicely equipped with power steering, power brakes, power driver seat, power windows, air conditioning, leather seats, swing away steering wheel and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. All power features except the clock and air conditioning are fully operational. The car rides and handles terrific and with the 390 big block it really moves. All in all this is one nice T-Bird and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere! We have the receipts for the engine rebuild along with receipts for some other repairs and these will be included in the sale. Fly in and drive this one home!Please remember that this car is 43 years old and not perfect. The clock and A/C are inoperable, there is some minor pitting on the exterior chrome (as shown), the drivers interior door panel has a few cracks and the radio antenna is missing.
